St George Theater

On Thursday, September 19th at 8pm, SNL’s Colin Jost & Michael Che will be performing at the St. George Theater to benefit the Staten Island Museum.

Recently, a video surfaced online containing the full hour long audio from comedian Louis CK’s 2011 show at the St. George Theater.

The show was a benefit for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, many of whom were given free tickets to the show. The material from that night would go on to make up the majority of his special ‘Oh My God.’

Scott Bradlee has made quite a name for himself on the internet with his Postmodern Jukebox, an ever-evolving, revolving collective of performers who cover popular music in period styles. The group, which has amassed over 1.6 million YouTube subscribers, performed over the weekend at the St. George Theater.

This Way on Bay designer, Rebecca, hails from Rockford Illinois where she grew up with members of Cheap Trick. Her favorite memories are Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen teaching her daughter Ashley guitar & their pot-luck dinners.

Last week, Staten Islander Jamie Lynn Macchia was crowned Miss New York at the historic St. George Theater. The 23 year old has been competing for the title since 2012, and is now on her way to represent the island, New York City, and New York State in the Miss America competition.

The Flesh Junkies

Even after being spotlighted in The Advance’s “Best of Staten Island: Cover Bands” poll last year, there’s a good chance you haven’t heard of The Flesh Junkies. The zombie punk cabaret outfit is one of the island’s most intriguing acts in years. This Friday, March 25th they’ll be performing live in the Mezzanine Lounge of the St. George Theater.

Staten Islanders who are fans of Scarface and The Godfather Trilogy might be excited to learn that film star Al Pacino’s latest was shot right here on Staten Island. A dark comedy, The Humbling, is an edgy look into the chaotic life of an actor suffering from dementia.
