The Sundog Theatre is celebrating the holiday season with a special performance of “A Christmas Carol,” and the 2017 Scenes From The Staten Island Ferry, a one-act play submission contest.
Thanksgiving is arguably one of the best holidays. It’s hard to compete with a day that’s solely dedicated to eating delicious seasonal food for hours on end. However, some of us like to kick off our celebrations a day earlier by partaking in Thanksgiving Eve festivities.
Halloween is lurking right around the corner, and many of you may still be scrambling to plan the ultimate Halloweekend. Luckily, there are tons of events going on at all of your favorite local haunts. Whether you prefer tricks, treats, or a good scare, here’s what’s going on all over the Island this Halloween.
This Saturday, September 10th from 2pm to 8pm, NYC Arts Cypher is hosting “Cypher Fest.” This first annual art festival consists of both international and local artists working towards a common goal, beautifying the neighborhood. This first annual fest boasts the talents of world-renowned street artists such as Jorit Agoch, Crisp, & Sipros
The College of Staten Island Observatory is located on the College of Staten Island Campus. Go take a gander, you’ll see things you’ve never seen before. The observatory is open to the general public and college community approximately once per week during the Fall, Spring and Summer Sessions and on special celestial events. There is no charge but donations are always appreciated.
The Garibaldi-Meucci Museum is located in the Staten Island town of Tompkinsville. It is a preserved home of two of the most influential men of the 19th century. During the years of 1851 – 1853 Giuseppe Garibaldi and Antonio Meucci co-habitated in this Gothic Revival Cottage.
Staten Island’s North Shore has grown considerably in the past ten years. The culture, growth and art that has been added to the scene has added a New York City element of liveliness to the community. This year Staten Island’s Faber Park will be hosting La Isla Bonita Summer Festival 2016. It will tale place on July 10 from 3:00 – 8:00pm.
July 4th, it happens once a year for most of us. The day that we became independent, also rightly known as Independence Day. This memorial holiday is hard to mess up for yourself. It’s easy to have a good day just going right out into the backyard and enjoying the nice summer air, maybe even a hot dog or seven. You aren’t chained to your own houses though, especially if you’re around the Staten Island area.
The Harbor Lights Theater Company (Harbor Lights), Staten Island’s only professional Equity Theater Company, led by Founders and Artistic Directors Tamara Jenkins and Jay Montgomery, is pleased to announce the return of last spring’s successful Broadway Shines on Harbor Lights with this year’s production of SHOWSTOPPERS!
