On Friday, May 1st, walk leader Claudia Toback is taking one of MAS NYC’s free guided Jane’s Walks in Stapleton. The event, called “The past and future for Stapleton” will take New Yorkers on a tour of the historic Stapleton, and shine a light into what the future holds for the Staten Island community.
Kudos to all those involved in transforming the 2 mile stretch along Father Capodanno Blvd. The first noticeable thing was the cleanliness. There was not one piece of garbage along the entire length.
Filmmaker, Don Arangio, is quickly becoming the viral sensation of Staten Island’s North Shore. After the runaway success of his quirky short film “10am” last month, Arangio recently started making rounds on the web again, this time for a photograph of a rainbow shining on the Staten Island Ferry.
Great news! Labyrinth Arts Collective, Inc. has been invited by Ettore Mazzei, owner of Chez Vous Caterers and Publisher of This Way on Bay, to curate three Second Saturday Events July through September, 2015.
The “Core Four” are the former New York Yankees baseball players Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera. It has also been coined by Staten Island Borough President James Oddo as the four major developments on the North Shore of Staten Island. URL Building, Empire Outlet Mall, New York Wheel & Lighthouse Point.
Ground was broken yesterday on the highly anticipated Empire Outlets, planned for Saint George. This celebration was attended by local politicians and SI luminaries, and hosted at Richmond County Ballpark.
Stained Glass is a lost art. One of the few Stained Glass Artisans, William Butt, Staten Island Stained Glass is located right here on the North Shore.
The Staten Island LGBT Center holds monthly art exhibitions and workshops for those interested in art by the community. This month’s show was also part of the Second Saturday Staten Island art walk and a delightful potluck dessert event was planned.
New York City residents are now able to sign up for IDNYC, a government issued identification card that is available to all City residents age 14 and older in 25 languages. Immigration status does not matter. The largest municipal identification card program in the nation was launched in January of this year.
As we mentioned a few weeks ago, the Historic Edgewater Hall was featured on Vh1’s popular reality show, Mob Wives. Today we have a short video, uploaded to the Chez Vous Caterers YouTube channel, which features footage from the episode that was shot at the storied north shore catering hall.
