It’s always both a pleasure and a nice surprise when you spot locations of where you live popping up in movies and television shows. The Staten Island Ferry is stepping into the spotlight in the newest Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer.

If you live around the South Shore of Staten Island, you’ve most definitely seen the big, oversized, abandoned LNG tanks that have been a sight for sore eyes for the community of Rossville for close to five decades.
This short video is actually a trailer to a longer, silent video that Jirasiritham presented for a master class project for the Spitzer School of Architecture at CCNY. The film, titled “Exploring the Forgotten Borough,” takes the viewer on a bike tour of the North Shore.

We had a chance to chat with Corinna Sager, producer of Ferry Tales and Kamillah Hanks who was featured in the film and consequentially was the film’s publicist. Hanks is currently running for the north shore council seat against incumbent Debi Rose.
The Staten Island Ferry disaster took place on the morning of November 22nd, 1963. It is considered one of New York’s most horrific maritime disasters and it is said that nearly 400 people went down with the Cornelius G. Kolff ferry boat.
On February 26th, Richmond City Media and This Way on Bay present a night of networking and film showcases.
A one-of-a-kind immersive art installation is coming to Staten Island. Created by photographer Christine Cruz, Project Alice is a year-long adventure that will commence with the opening of an immersive, interactive art gallery in September 2017.
