Christine Osinski is a versatile artist that took refuge in Staten Island during the early 1980’s because her and her husband were pushed out of Downtown Manhattan due to rising rent. They purchased a home in the New Brighton section of Staten Island and she was inspired by the vernacular architecture and the “Working Class Milieu” that reminded her of her hometown in South Side, Chicago. She found the “unconscious arrangements” that she photographed to be somewhat surreal.

The comedic-mystery about a runaway teenager who falls into a spiral of conspiracy and mystery is actually set on Staten Island. It’s throwback Thursday, so I thought I’d re-share one of the catchiest songs to come out of the Staten Island music scene in the last decade. “F For Effort” is a Les Vinyl track from the band’s “The Nafia EP.” Since it’s release in 2011, “F For Effort” has become the theme song for “What Say You Pod,” a podcast hosted by Impractical Jokers stars Sal Vulcano and Brian Quinn.
