Spanish pop-punk act, Balloon Fights, recently released a new album. Now, normally we wouldn’t be covering music from outside of the borough, let alone from outside of the country, but this release is special. Why? Because for some reason, Balloon Fights decided to call their new album “Staten Island.” It’s cover even features the Verrazano Bridge in all of it’s majesty.

Staten Island filmmaker and video editor, Mark Scherel, posted a new editing reel to Vimeo earlier this week. Scherel, who has collaborated with Staten Island’s Monstar Films, Backslash Bomb Productions, and (my company) NB Technologies on film shoots, but he’s by no means just a local talent.
