Artist Spotlight: Staten Island Editor, Mark Scherel, Talks Springsteen & Has a Sizzling New Editing Reel
Staten Island filmmaker and video editor, Mark Scherel, posted a new editing reel to Vimeo earlier this week. Scherel, who has collaborated with Staten Island’s Monstar Films, Backslash Bomb Productions, and (my company) NB Technologies on film shoots, but he’s by no means just a local talent. This Way on Bay reached out to Mark to find out about some of his recent work and about working in the medium of video in general.
Back in 2013, Staten Island filmmaker, Geoff Celis, ran a successful Indiegogo campaign for a short film he had been thinking about for quite some time. Shortly thereafter, Geoff rounded up some of Staten Island’s funniest minds and best movie-makers and put his lucha libre comedy into the world. Last week, an online version of the film was put into the world wide web.
Staten Island filmmaker, Kevin Rogers of Backslash Bomb productions, is having a free screening tonight for his short film “Blink: The observer” The event takes place at the 50/50 Skatepark at 9:30pm.
Once Upon A Time in Staten Island is a film by producer and longtime Staten Islander, Athur Siegel. The video, is a trailer for the film which combines still photos of Staten Island between the years of 1940 and 1963.
Staten Island’s favorite Josts, Colin (of Saturday Night Live) and Casey (writer for Impractical Jokers) have a new video circulating the internet on an unlikely channel, Golf Digest. Colin is the Googly-eyed coverboy on this month’s Golf Digest comedy issue.
