“Ladies First” is the code by which Manny Rondon and Joon Chung live by on their ‘Just The Gals’ podcast, a weekly program where the duo of comedians interview interesting strong women from all walks of life (though many of them are comedians as well.)
The popularity of drones has increased steadily since we launched this website, and many drone videos of Staten Island have been created in that time. One location that we haven’t yet seen from the sky is Mt. Loretto. The footage shot by Paul Fargo, is accompanied by a Pink Floyd soundtrack.
From the depths of Youtube, this week we bring you something very special: a 1988 archival film showcasing the historical context of various styles of homegrown music on Staten Island and the legacies of some of these famous styles, artists, and traditions. Some of which still continue to this day.

Bad Taste, a new series, puts 20+ year old candy into one, sad man’s hands as he eats and reviews it so the world doesn’t have to. He’s not the hero we think we deserve, but he’s the hero we need.
Tompkinsville resident, Nancy Biggs, will showcase her poetic writings on April 30, 2016 at Edgewater Hall, Stapleton. The evening’s presentations, entitled Beneath it All, will contain selected works from Ms. Biggs’ extensive collection of poetry.
Today is the first time that I’ve seen a 360 degree video that was shot on Staten Island. What’s even more exciting, is that this particular video is also a drone video. Combining their specialty for 360 degree tours, with their recent work with drone video, Black Paw Photo released the clip above, which allows users to share the view with a drone flying high above Staten Island’s Silver Lake Park.
The smart people behind the Empire Outlets YouTube channel seem to understand how much Staten Islanders like drone footage. In the clip above posted on April 13th, you can see 3.2 million pounds of steel that makes up the MTA Build-over Area, a feature that protects the St. George community protection from future Hurricane Sandy type superstorms. The flyover of the site also shows a general state of the build site from the top of a crane.
Staten Island author, Chris Knight, recently self-published his first novel titled Past and Pending. The comedic-mystery about a runaway teenager who falls into a spiral of conspiracy and mystery is actually set on Staten Island. Earlier today, we sat down with Chris who answered some questions about the book and it’s inspiration:

If you thought that the YouTube channel for Staten Island’s 50/50 Skatepark would be nothing but skateboarding videos, you’d be mistaken. It does have clips of amazing skateboarders, but that’s just the beginning. One highlight from the eclectic channel is the “What’s Your Story?” web series.
