The Waters At Play festival will be taking place September 30th at ArtSpace at SI Arts, 23 Navy Pier Ct. & Stapleton Waterfront Park.

While sipping on a cocktail at Amendment 18, Vivian Vassar had an idea…. Wouldn’t her Hey Viv ! a line of vintage inspired clothing be the perfect fit for this bar’s Speakeasy vibe? So she enlisted photographer Jeff Mason and two cool Jazz singers right off the Amendment 18 stage and pitched the idea of a photo shoot. T

With its remarkable buildings and colorful history, Stapleton has been and continues to be a major commercial center due to its proximity to the New York Harbor, the ferry (which transports approximately 75,000 people daily) and the Verrazano Bridge.

The Staten Island Ferry disaster took place on the morning of November 22nd, 1963. It is considered one of New York’s most horrific maritime disasters and it is said that nearly 400 people went down with the Cornelius G. Kolff ferry boat.

The Lois & Richard Nicotra Foundation invited more than 200 middle school students from the John W. Lavelle Prep charter School to see the movie Hidden Figures at Atrium Stadium Cinemas on February 7, 2017.

It’s about to be an even better time to live on Staten Island. If only one thing is good about this Island, it’s the food. We’re about to get a whole lot of restaurants and eateries over the course of the next few years. Many of these restaurants will be featured in either the soon-to-be renovated Staten Island Mall or the upcoming Empire Outlets.

Staten Island’s own marine mammal research organization, Gotham Whale, is continuously collecting data on sightings of seals, dolphins, and whales that are returning to the waters around New York City. Each documented sighting is recorded in their database and collected into anecdotal reports, which they turn into real data that can be used to better understand where and when these animals are appearing.

Last week, The New York Wheel team welcomed the arrival of two (of four) of the wheel’s massive pedestals to Staten Island. Construction of the New York Wheel will reach a milestone with the arrival of two additional pedestals at the end of the week, marking the first full structural component featured on the construction site in St. George.
