If you’re looking to head out for a good cause then keep your calendars open for June 4th of this year. SunriseWALKS is a charity walk and local event that intends to bring together everyone in the local community to support and give awareness for Sunrise Day Camp.
If you don’t already know, Sunrise Day Camp is, right now, the only summer day camp in the world that lasts the entire summer and allows children with cancer, as well as their siblings, to enjoy the summer as much as they can. What’s the cost of this summer camp? Well, it’s completely free of charge!
The SunriseWALKS event will be held at Sunrise Day Camp, at the Catholic Charities of Staten Island on the campus of Mt. Loretto, located at 6581 Hylan Boulevard. Registration for the walk begins at 8:30 am on the morning of the event. After the walk, the event will feature a Family carnival where you and your whole family can celebrate and enjoy the rest of the day.
On her fundraiser page, walker Allison Cohen explained why she’s raising money for Sunrise Day Camp. “This is a cause near and dear to my heart. Last year, I got a chance to visit camp and saw firsthand how much fun the kids were having. With your help, we can send even more kids to camp this year and give them the chance to have a truly incredible summer.” She explained, adding “Please consider donating to my team or starting your own to help these kids out! I appreciate all donations, no matter how big or small. Every little bit helps!”
