Thanks to the Staten Island Advance and the Borough President’s Office, the MTA participated in a live Twitter chat to field questions regarding the new bus routes that have been rolling out for Express lines this August.

Immediate changes are that the express bus designations to Manhattan have gone from X1 X7 etc. to SIM1 SIM7 etc, as well as some stops have been moved to be more evenly positioned and situated closer to other forms of public transportation.

The account @NYCTBus has been answers questions and dispatching some general information, such as:

The SIM4 (current 4x) will be stopping at Church and Fulton Sts, across the street from the WTC PATH Terminal and the Fulton St transit center for easy transfer to the A, C, E, J, Z, R, W, 2, 3, 4 and 5 subways lines.

This new express timetable has been designed specifically to save/minimize customer journey time. The routes are based on customer need and feedback and as a result are more direct. We will monitor progress but we are very confident that you will see the benefit. ^AB
