Staten Island Ferry Leads 1993 Footage of New York City Shot In Early HD Test
An icon of New York City, the Staten Island Ferry was one of the first subjects to be recorded in High Definition. Back in 1993, while introducing the technology, JVC filmed various scenes in New York City for a promotional video. Our beloved Ferry opens the interesting video.
1993 was a good 5 years before HDTV was even a thing in the US, and about 10 years before it became commonplace, but JVC captured this footage of The Big Apple for an early high-definition VHS player demo tape. – The Awesomer
